ONCOLOGY PHARMACIST CAREER INFORMATION AND RESEARCH ONCOLOGIST PHARMACY PHARMACIST JOB SEARCH

Oncology pharmacists are often known as research pharmacists. The research pharmacist is responsible for storage and dispensing of medications used in hospital-approved human cancer research studies; collaborates with principal investigators (PI) in the development and design of investigational drug protocols, following policies and procedures outlined by the Research Pharmacy Committee, and the Human Research Committee and study sponsors; interprets regulations related to studies; reviews drug protocol requests to ensure therapies are reasonable and the medications are chemically and physiologically compatible; directs pharmacy staff to prepare, label, and dispense investigational compounds. Develops and monitors inventory logs and other records/files related to investigation drug studies; maintains integrity of drug dispensing records and codes, as appropriate to studies; Participates on Investigational Review Board/ Scientific Advisory Committee. Most of all, the oncology pharmacist must be light-hearted and fun to be around! Especially when working with terminal patients, a outgoing personality can make all the difference in the world, not only with patients, but with other caregivers as well!
